Who is expected to be playing in the World Cup for France? Keep reading to find out which France stars you could be watching with your Qatar World Cup Tickets.
A World-Class Superstar:
France has one of the best players currently in world football with Kylian Mbappe. The 23-year old striker has been dominating Ligue 1 as PSG’s number 7. Currently having scored 88 goals in just 100 games since 2018. These statistics for a striker, a young striker at that are unparalleled.
Mbappe has been providing goals for his national team also, having already gained 53 caps at just 23-years of age and scoring 24 goals. It seems that whatever challenge Kylian Mbappe is given, he not only succeeds - he surpasses all expectations. Truly redefining what it means to be a young football superstar in the modern game.
Attacking Threat:
Not only does France have one of the best players in the world in Mbappe - who so happens to be a striker. France has a wide range of attacking threats to choose from as a whole. With world-class talents from Griezmann, Benzema and Dembele - France are not short of firepower.
This range of attacking ability allows for a range of different attacking styles. With Benzema now adopting more of a ‘fox in the box’ style of play - whereas Dembele and Mbappe can attack with frightening pace.
Frightening Midfield
France is also graced with having two of the best midfielders in world football. Paul Pogba can change the outcome of a game what seems to be almost instantly. His quick decision making along with how high up the pitch he can often be playing for France. Pogba currently has 89 caps for France while scoring 11 games.
The other midfielder is N’Golo Kante. Kante adopts more of a defensive midfield role for both club and country. However, even playing in this often underappreciated position - he is recognised as being one of the best midfielders in the world. In his defensive midfield position for France, he has obtained 51 caps and 2 goals.
Road To Qatar World Cup 2022
This will mark France’s 15th appearance in a World Cup tournament and their journey to appear in the Qatar 2022 World Cup was a fairly easy one, to say the least. France was able to secure promotion to this year's World Cup tournament by going undefeated by drawing 3 of their 10 games whilst securing victories in the remaining 7 games. The most impressive scoreline came from the 8-0 victory over Kazakhstan in which an in-form Mbappe ran riot throughout most of the game as he scored 4 of the 8 goals. The remaining four goals came from other world-class attacking talents with Benzema, Griezmann and even Rabiot in midfield creating a goal.
It was largely due to this dominating fixture being the reason why France managed to obtain the best goals in their Group D qualification table. More impressively, France only saw a total of 3 goals enter the back of their net throughout all 10 of their qualifying games. Resulting in a staggering goal difference of 15. Compared to the second-best goal difference stats with Ukraine’s 3 - the difference is truly alarming.
It is no secret that France will look to seek out retribution during their shock exit in the Euros tournament and with the firepower they possess along with the defensive prowess they are showing - France look to be a really strong contender to lift the World Cup back to back tournaments. Something that hasn’t been seen since Brazil’s back to back wins in 1958 and 1962. During the last World Cup in 2018, France defeated the surprising finalists in Croatia in an exciting 4-2 fixture.
