Unlike most clubs Cagliari Calcio are actually based outside mainland Italy, on their home ground is on the beautiful island of Sardinia. The Cagliari fans pay homage to their sporting great and gentleman of the game Gianfranco Zola. He played almost 100 times for the club. Cagliari won their only scudetto in 1970, when they were led by the Italian national team's all-time leading scorer, Gigi Riva. The triumph was also the first by a club from south of Rome. Cagliari play in the colours blue and red and are a well loved club throughout Italy.
